5 Benefits of Summer Dance Classes

Updated: Apr 5

Interested in Summer activities for your child? Summertime is a great season to continue with current activities or try new ones. Summer dance classes provide several benefits for young dancers, regardless of their current skill level. This Summer, Dynamic Moves will continue to offer classes for all levels.

Read below to learn the 5 Benefits of Summer Dance Classes.

  1. New Friendships

The sun is out, the weather is warm and Summer is all about having fun. Summer classes are a great way for younger dancers to meet other kids and develop bonds and friendship outside of school. Most often, kids encounter other kids that they normally would not have met in other environments. The great thing is they usually already have some things in common, like their love for dance!

2. Maintain Current Skills & Develop New Ones

During the Summer, the focus is more on skill building and less on practicing choreography for a performance. Young dancers are able to spend more time working on the turns, leaps, and other skills necessary for growth.

With the addition of a break from school, the Summer allows them to focus on dance and then rest. It's amazing what can happen with 6 weeks of consistent work.

3. Reduce Injuries

It's easy for some younger dancers to try to use the Summer to lounge around on the couch. But rather than spending the Summer in the house on a device, dancers who continue with classes get regular exercise and continue stretching. Therefore once Fall classes resume they are more ready to jump back into classes and less likely to sustain an injury.

4. Excellent form of Exercise

Dancers that take classes during the Summer work very hard. While classes are fun, it is work and classes provide an excellent form of exercise for the body. Most parents, especially those that sign up for the All Day Summer Session, comment that their dancers sleep extremely well during the night. It's really a win win for everyone. ; )

5. Improves Self Confidence

A beautiful benefit of continued Summer classes is the confidence that dancers have at the end of a program. They feel accomplished, they can see and feel their personal growth and they feel good about going back to classes in the Fall, knowing they have done the work to go to the next level. Dance is a great discipline to develop a stronger sense of confidence in yourself.
